China is one of the four oldest civilizations in the world, with a history of 4,000 years. It is the most populous country in the world, containing one-fifth of the world’s total population. The country has various different tribal groups, languages and religions.
The national language of China is Mandarin (Putonghua), which is one of the five working languages of the United Nations. In addition to this, there are 55 minority nationalities and all of them have their own languages.
